In November 2016, I ended my lease, sold almost all of my possessions, packed up two large suitcases and traveled with my small family of 4 to Costa Rica.
I was tired of working at jobs that I disliked or was bored at. It was always a means to an end and I constantly wound up in the paycheck to paycheck cycle. I felt like I had a greater purpose and that the only way to find it was to start taking action.
So I did.
I've wanted to travel since I was around 9 years old. At that age, I said I wanted to go to foreign countries and help people but my dream was shot down when I heard the words, "You won't make enough money".
There were a couple more dreams I had after that, but they were shot down too and for the same reason, not enough money. I picked up a belief that I couldn't make it in this world if I followed what I loved and for a while, I buried my dreams and followed the pursuits I felt would please others.
In 2016 my dreams resurfaced and I could no longer suppress them.
I moved to Costa Rica for a year and it was the most revitalizing and profound experiences in my life. I grew more over those 12 months than at any other point in my life. I learned about a new way of life, a new language, and I gained more confidence.
I attained everything I need to return to the states ready to take things to the next level. We returned to the US, December 12th, 2017. On January 7th of the following year, which was also my 30th birthday, I decided to start writing on Medium daily. And now, I'll be writing on this site too.
I have decided I want to write to make a difference; I believe it to be a part of my greater purpose and I hope that enjoy following along on my journey.
