Two months ago I redesigned my website.
When I initially published the site, I realized it was slow, spent a few hours to fix it and then I left it as is, hoping it would fix itself.
Obviously, that didn’t happen, sooo…I’m going to need to resolve the lag issue.Thank you to the new subscribers who waited it out nonetheless.
There are a few changes I am in the process of making. I recently wrote about my decision to stop freelance writing The primary reason is I am aiming to put as much effort as possible towards building my own thing.
This was a big but important step for me.
One of the projects I am devoting time to is creating a podcast. I would like to have interesting and inspiring conversations around life-lessons, goals, and achievements–much like a lot of the content I write on Medium. I’m going to be reaching out to a few people to start creating a line-up. If you would like to be a part of one of these conversations please e-mail me (email@example.com).
We can talk about friendship, being an introvert/extrovert, projects you’re working on, where you’ve traveled…a number of things. Don’t be shy, reach out! I’m nervous to start this project but excited to start these conversations.
A couple of days ago, I wrote about balance.
Anytime I change what I am doing or add more on to my plate, there is always a period of adjustment. I have to remember that. Right now it feels like things are a bit shaky because I’m moving from one thing (freelance writing) to another (podcast).
My mind is all kinds of jumbled and it’s like
“What is going on?!!”
As much as I would like to deny it, I kind of resist change. Humans naturally resist change. Regardless of that, I’m going to have to ignore these instincts and push forward with all uncomfortability.
Creating a podcast will provide an opportunity to learn and expand upon my thinking. It’s also going to help me take my daily content game to the next level.
Yesterday I read a post from Jesse Kerema. He mentioned that it’s pretty difficult to come up with daily content when you’re tied to your desk. I feel the pain. I do get out, but it’s normally for kid stuff and I’m wholly uninterested in starting a parenting blog. My form of getting out there will be starting these podcast conversations.
Another change that I am making (a small one) is I am going to be writing all of my Medium content on my site first, and then import it into Medium. I don’t know why I didn’t do that to begin with. I like the ease of writing on Medium’s platform but truthfully I could be building my own blog at the same time as I build Medium.
Double for my trouble.
I hope this doesn’t negatively effect my Medium stats, but I’ll soon find out and let you know the results.
This was mainly a few updates for the purpose of documenting my journey. In a few years (when I am hopefully successful), it will be interesting to look back and see the steps I took.
Thank you for reading!
