I recently saw a quote on a Medium post that said,
“When people don’t grow they rot.”
Lately, I’ve been looking around my life and I see growth everywhere.
It’s a good sign.
I’m in high spirits, I’m motivated, I’m making good decisions and I’m being consistent.
Today, I checked the podcast stats. They’re growing and we’re only 21 days in. There are an average of 7.5 plays per episode. Though it is a relatively small number, honestly I am happy and surprised to see listens at all.
Today, we had a “live” brainstorming session on how we could grow even more and by the end, we had 4 solid mini-plans of action.
Here they are:
- Invite existing contributors from the On the Rise publication for interviews
- Add a cliffhanger at the end of each episode to keep listeners coming back
- Add show notes for SEO
- Finish setting up our weekly “exclusive” episode for e-mail subscribers
My cohost, Molly Maguire, has even started to do audio recordings of his existing stories to leverage those.
Everything is a seed.
I have my expectations but I never know the full extent of how things will branch off.
For example, over the past 3 months, my confidence has taken a boost.
That was an unexpected side effect of podcasting.
In March I had a fear of doing an episode without a script, 25 days ago was the first time I really went unscripted and now there’s no scripts, no edits, and no nerves.
Once you grow in one area, you start to grow in all areas.
With this new wave of confidence, today I was questioning how far I would “comfortably” go. A Facebook live stream is now an option, so is a small speech in public. A stand-up comedy- that’s where I draw the line.
So I know what I need to work towards.
There are always opportunities to grow and I want to seek out as many of those as I can.
